qPCR Assay Kit for the SARS-CoV-2 Lambda Variant
The LAMBDA variant is described to be more infectius and to be able to escape an existing immune response.
Our target-specific, one-step qPCR assay will produce a positive signal in case of the presence of the del246-252, a large deletion in the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 that is specific for the lambda variant. The deletion is thought to be responsible for the observed immune escape potential of the lambda variant. Tha lambda variant was found already in 45 countries.
The assay effectively identifies lambda strains as well as strains without the del246-252 mutation in a single qPCR reaction using two specific probes. No melting curve analyses is necessary. We offer the assay as a kit including control material, it can be used on any qPCR machine with channels for FAM and HEX.
The left picture above shows the qPCR results of a lamda variant of SARS-CoV-2, the right the result of a non-LAMBDA variant (here, the DELTA Variant).
The assay kit is currently for research use only, CE-labeling procedure is ongoing.
